Ladywell 2005 | Ladywell 2003/2004

This is my current garden and yet another labour of love. Its a giant and has me running to keep up with it, even in terms of simply mowing the lawn. Over time, we have managed to get rid of much of the turf in the Flower Garden, and the vegetable patch (top left corner). Most of this was de-turfed manually using forks. We are in the process of gravelling a lot of it, but again, this is slow work for me!

We can't afford to buy bedding plants or actually, too many perennials at present, so I am still growing a lot of things from seed. What I am looking forward to most in this garden is the self-seeding, which delighted me so much in my previous garden. A lot of what I sowed last year has self-seeded - limnanthes, nasturtium, calendula.

red hot pokers view from lawn

Red hot pokers (kniphofia). I have had this plant 3 years and this is the first year it has flowered. Hurrah! My foxgloves are also back and looking fine and dandy.

A nice looking hosta, the slugs don't seem too keen on this one.... yet.

The lovely orange rose which we inherited from the previous occupants. We kept all the rose-bushes here.

The view towards the back of the house, showing roses, osthamnus(sp?) and young sunflowers. The room with the orange light on is my recording studio.

Tulips Cassie, Phormium, Yucca

Tulips, spring 2005, just before they got shot to smithereens by the rain. Happens every year!

Cassie cat, spring 2005.

My cat, Cassie.

Spring 2005. Dicentra... aaaah! So pwetty!

Cassie again.

Valerian, lavender and "Queen of the Night" tulips.

"Cat protection". Cassie likes to poop where I have just sown seed. I guess she appreciates a fine tilth too...

Rose prunings. Yet another cat deterrent. However, unless I am very cunning Cassie just kicks them to one side and gets on with it.

Me in the greenhouse looking a wee bit tired and having a well-deserved rest after sorting out the veg patch.

Sunflowers growing in the greenhouse. I learned the hard way to start them off in pots.
